Port Denia Superyacht Marina & Shipyard and the Maria Ibars Secondary Education Institute in Dénia have renewed their collaboration agreement to implement the Dual Vocational Training (FP) model in the Electromechanical Vehicle Maintenance program, with a nautical focus. This agreement, expanding upon a partnership started years ago, reaffirms Port Denia Superyacht Marina & Shipyard’s commitment to education and employment in Dénia—a strategic effort to support the development of qualified professionals in a rapidly growing sector.
The agreement will provide students in the region with specialized training in electromechanics applied to the nautical field. In this way, future graduates will gain practical experience in a real-world setting, enhancing their preparation for meeting job market demands. According to Albert Morell, General Manager of Port Denia Superyacht Marina & Shipyard, “This agreement has our full support, as it will contribute to training young people in the nautical sector and enable us to work with future skilled professionals in our shipyard, specifically prepared for the needs of the industry.”
The project is part of “Punt Nàutic,” an initiative led by the Consortium for Economic Recovery and Activity in the Marina Alta (CREAMA) under the Comarcal Employment Agreement, “Pacte’MA.” The program’s goal is to adapt educational offerings to meet industry-specific needs and to train specialized personnel, helping young people from the area find employment opportunities within their own region. Punt Nàutic was conceived to address the shortage of qualified personnel in the Marina Alta, as the 2017 Territorial Diagnosis indicated that many jobs in the sector were filled by personnel from outside the area due to a lack of specialized local training.
Through this agreement, Port Denia will directly contribute to students’ practical training, allowing them to benefit from Dual Vocational Training in a real working environment. The 2024-25 academic year will mark the integration of this specialized training within the educational offerings of IES Maria Ibars, providing students with the opportunity to combine their theoretical studies with practical experience in a professional setting. CREAMA’s role as a facilitating entity has streamlined communication and coordination between Port Denia and the institute, promoting a strategic synergy that benefits both young people and the local nautical industry.
Having qualified personnel within the company is essential to continue delivering high-quality service and to strengthen its position internationally in the nautical sector. The agreement signed with IES Maria Ibars will also enable Port Denia to collaborate with future employees who understand both the theory and practice of nautical electromechanics, enhancing their employability.
